Ayeneux war ein Lehen, das sich in der Vogtei von Fléron befand. Kaiser Otto II. hatte dieses Gebiet im Jahr 982 dem Kapitel Unserer Lieben Frau zu Aachen geschenkt. Der Vogt, Herr De LaRochette, machte es 1618 so bunt, dass das Kapitel beschloss, sich dieser Vogtei zu entledigen, und 1626 wurde es vom Fürstbischof von Lüttich gekauft. Der Herr von Ayeneux residierte im Schloss von Wégimont.
