Laarne beherbergt eine der schönsten, ältesten und märchenhaftesten Wasserburgen Flanderns. Die ältesten Teile davon stammen bereits aus dem 13. Jahrhundert. Es ist definitiv einen Besuch wert, unter anderem wegen der mittelalterlichen Wandmalereien in der Kapelle, den Wandteppichen und der weltberühmten Silbersammlung von Claude d'Allemagne. Während der Hexenprozesse im Jahr 1607 landeten angebliche Hexen hier hinter Schloss und Riegel.
