Der Krieg 1914-18 hat wie überall in den betroffenen Gebieten zahlreiche Gebäude zerstört. Die Kirche von Rongy traf es gegen Ende der militärischen Auseinandersetzung am 20. Oktober 1918. Glücklicherweise wurde ein Großteil der Einrichtung durch den damaligen Pfarrer gerettet, insbesondere der 13 Meter lange Hauptaltar aus Eichenholz von 1703. Er wurde in den 1928 beendeten Neuaufbau wieder eingefügt. Am Eingang des Gebäudes steht ein Grabmal zum Gedächtnis an François de Roisin, Offizier im Napoleonischen Heer und 1812 im Russlandfeldzug gefallen.
