De Eerste Wereldoorlog heeft veel gebouwen in deze gemeente vernield. De kerk van Rongy werd verwoest aan het eind van de oorlog, op 20 oktober 1918. Gelukkig kon de toenmalige pastoor het merendeel van het meubilair redden, in het bijzonder het dertien meter lange hoofdaltaar in eik, uit 1703. Dit werd in 1928 teruggeplaatst in de heropgebouwde kerk.
Aan de ingang ziet men nog het grafmonument van François de Roisin, officier van Napoleon, overleden in 1812 tijdens de campagne in Rusland.
