Das Schloss von Villers ist ein Privatbesitz. 1892 erwarb König Leopold II. von Belgien das Schloss, um sein königliches Gut in den Ardennen zu erweitern. In seinem Brief vom 9. April 1900 schenkte er all seine weltlichen Güter dem belgischen Staat. So wurden das Schloss, das Dorf Villers-sur-Lesse und andere Gebäude Teil der Königlichen Schenkung. Die Königliche Schenkung muss ihre Güter autonom verwalten, wobei die vom König auferlegten Bedingungen respektiert werden müssen.
