An verschiedenen Stellen will der Landschaftsverband Limburg wieder den offenen Charakter des Tals herstellen. So wurde am Ende der Molenbroekstraße 2014 ein regulierbares Wehr an der Alten Beek angelegt, um das mineralreiche Wasser länger im Gebiet zu halten. Die Natur reagiert hier gut darauf: Es entstehen wunderschöne Feuchtvegetationen mit Sumpfdotterblume und Wasserdistel. Gegen den Deich hat sich eine Zone mit offenem Wasser entwickelt, wo schnell viele Libellenarten, Amphibien und Vögel ein neues Zuhause gefunden haben. In anderen Zonen entscheidet sich der Landschaftsverband Limburg für eine regelmäßige Pflege. Hier entwickeln sich Wiesen mit großen Schwingrasvegetationen, Dottergraswiesen oder wer weiß, wertvollen Blaugraswiesen.
