Das Dorf Wijer hat ebenfalls einen lateinischen, sagen wir römischen, Ursprung. 1139 wurde es als Vilier erwähnt, möglicherweise eine Verfälschung des lateinischen Wortes villa. Die Burg von Wijer und der dazugehörige Hof wurden Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts erbaut. Die Kirche St. Petrus in den Fesseln wurde 1824 erbaut. Neben der Kirche liegt das Grab des Literaten P.H. Creten, der hier zwischen 1866 und 1881 Pfarrer war.
