Le village de Wijer a également une origine latine, disons romaine. En 1139, il a été mentionné comme Vilier, peut-être une déformation du mot latin villa. Le château de Wijer et la ferme associée ont été construits à la fin du 18ème siècle. L’église Saint-Pierre-aux-Pneus a été construite en 1824. À côté de l’église se trouve la tombe de l’érudit littéraire P.H. Creten, qui était pasteur ici entre 1866 et 1881.
