Der alte Gebäudekomplex, der zwischen der Vaartdijk und der Leopoldstraße liegt, ist der Ort, wo die erste belgische Autofabrik war. Es war ein Unternehmen von Herrn Vincke. Dort stellte er auch "den Vincke", das erste Auto Belgiens, im Jahr 1894 her. 1895 ging er in die Geschichte ein mit dem ersten Autounfall in Belgien. Das geschah an der Ecke des Groenplaats in Antwerpen.
