Die mittelalterliche Festung befand sich an einem strategischen Punkt mit Blick auf das Lessetal und wurde auf oder in der Nähe des Standorts eines früheren römischen Forts (Castrum) errichtet.
Die mittelalterliche Festungsanlage stammt vermutlich aus dem 10. bis 12. Jahrhundert , wobei einige Elemente später verändert wurden. Sie diente der Kontrolle des Taldurchgangs und bot Schutz vor Einfällen.
Die Festung liegt zwischen den römischen Bädern und dem Aussichtspunkt „Trou du Grand Duc“ am Wanderweg.
Die Überreste sind subtil, aber archäologisch bestätigt. Es wird angenommen, dass sich am höchsten Punkt der Stätte ein hölzerner oder später steinerner Wachturm befand, dessen Überreste wir hier sehen. Es wird angenommen, dass der Zugang nur über das erste Stockwerk möglich war .
