Baden ist eine Einwohnergemeinde im Kanton Aargau in der Schweiz und der Hauptort des Bezirks Baden. Die Stadt liegt im dichtbesiedelten Limmattal, 21 Kilometer nordwestlich von Zürich, 22 Kilometer nordöstlich des Kantonshauptortes Aarau und 18 Kilometer südlich der badischen Stadt Waldshut-Tiengen .
Innerhalb der Metropolregion Zürich bildet Baden das Zentrum einer bedeutenden Subagglomeration mit rund 100'000 Einwohnern. Die Stadt selbst zählt über 19'000 Einwohner; sie ist damit nach Aarau und der angrenzenden Gemeinde Wettingen, mit der sie geographisch und wirtschaftlich eng verflochten ist, die drittbevölkerungsreichste Gemeinde des Kantons. Als Gründungsort von Brown, Boveri & Cie. und bedeutender Standort des GE-Konzerns ist Baden ein international wichtiges Zentrum der Elektrotechnikbranche.
