Ernetschwil ist ein Dorf an der südlichen Seite des Rickenpasses im Kanton St. Gallen in der Schweiz und war bis zum 31. Dezember 2012 eine politische Gemeinde im Wahlkreis See-Gaster. Am 1. Januar 2013 fusionierte sie mit Rieden und Gommiswald zur vereinigten Gemeinde Gommiswald.
Eingebettet zwischen Hügeln und Wäldern befindet sich Ernetschwil, das auch zum St.Galler Linthgebiet gezählt wird, oberhalb von Uznach und südlich der Rickenpassstrasse. Die Gegend ist stark landwirtschaftlich geprägt. An einigen Orten findet man eine wunderschöne Sicht auf die Glarner Alpen, grosse Teile der Linthebene sowie auf den oberen Zürichsee vor.
