Die Gemeinde liegt in der Marsch. Sie grenzt über den Speicherkoog direkt an die Nordsee und damit an den Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer. Die Gemeinde liegt direkt an der Verbindungsstraße zwischen Meldorf und Wöhrden.
