Altensteig () ist eine Stadt im Landkreis Calw in Baden-Württemberg und eine Portalgemeinde des Naturparks Schwarzwald Mitte/Nord. Sie gehört zur Region Nordschwarzwald.
Altensteig liegt am Oberlauf der Nagold, des großen Nebenflusses der Enz, und an der Ostflanke des Nordschwarzwaldkamms. Stuttgart ist 49 Kilometer, Baden-Baden 33 Kilometer entfernt . Umgeben wird Altensteig von den Nachbargemeinden Neuweiler im Norden, Neubulach und Wildberg im Nordosten, Ebhausen im Osten, Rohrdorf und Haiterbach im Südosten, Pfalzgrafenweiler, Egenhausen und Wörnersberg im Süden, Grömbach im Südwesten sowie Simmersfeld im Westen.
