Lotte ist eine Gemeinde in der westfälischen Region Tecklenburger Land . In ihrer heutigen Ausdehnung entstand die Gemeinde am 1. Januar 1975 aus dem Amt Lotte, dem die bis dahin selbstständigen Gemeinden Lotte und Wersen angehörten. Überregional ist die Gemeinde vor allem durch das Autobahnkreuz Lotte/Osnabrück und den ehemaligen Fußballdrittligisten Sportfreunde Lotte bekannt. Durch die direkte Grenzlage zur niedersächsischen Großstadt Osnabrück zählt die Gemeinde zu deren Ballungsraum.
