Gschwend hat Anteil an den drei Naturräumen Östliches Albvorland, Schurwald und Welzheimer Wald sowie Schwäbisch-Fränkische Waldberge, die sämtlich zum Schwäbischen Keuper-Lias-Land zählen.
Die Gemeinde liegt zwischen Welzheimer Wald und Frickenhofer Höhe im Naturpark Schwäbisch-Fränkischer Wald an der „Gschwender“ Rot, einem linken Nebenfluss der Lein.
