Schönau ist eine Stadt mit ca. 4400 Einwohnern im Rhein-Neckar-Kreis in Baden-Württemberg. Sie gehört zur europäischen Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar . Die Siedlung entstand um das Kloster Schönau und gehörte wie das eingemeindete Altneudorf jahrhundertelang zur Kurpfalz.
Die Stadt Schönau liegt am Südhang des Odenwalds im Tal des Flüsschens Steinach, eines rechten Zuflusses zum Neckar.
