Wendisch Rietz ist eine amtsangehörige Gemeinde im westlichen Landkreis Oder-Spree in Brandenburg. Die Amtsgeschäfte werden vom Amt Scharmützelsee geführt. Die Gemeinde ist seit 2001 staatlich anerkannter Erholungsort.
Die Gemeinde Wendisch Rietz liegt ca. 60 km südöstlich von Berlin, ungefähr 7 km südöstlich von Storkow und 17 km westnordwestlich von Beeskow in Brandenburg. Der Ort liegt am südlichen Ende des Scharmützelsees, der mit einer Länge von 10 km und einer Fläche von 12,1 km² der zweitgrößte See in Brandenburg ist . Der Ort liegt inmitten weiterer Seen in einem großen Waldgebiet.
