Mössingen ist eine Große Kreisstadt im Landkreis Tübingen am Fuß der mittleren Schwäbischen Alb, rund 15 Kilometer südlich der Kreisstadt Tübingen. Mössingen gehört zur Region Neckar-Alb und zur Randzone der europäischen Metropolregion Stuttgart. Die Stadt erfüllt für das südliche Einzugsgebiet des Verdichtungsraums Mittlerer Neckar vor allem die Funktionen Wohnen und Versorgung.
