Der Hauptort liegt 18 km westlich der Stadt Oldenburg. Der geographische Mittelpunkt des Gemeindegebietes ist auf 7° 59' 32 Ost, 53° 06' 44 Nord und befindet sich in der heutigen Industriestraße in Edewecht.
Westlichster Punkt der Gemeinde ist Lohorst , der östlichste Punkt liegt im Wildenloh , der nördlichste Punkt im Fintlandsmoor und der südlichste Punkt in Hohendamm .
