Münzenberg liegt am Nordrand der Wetterau auf einer Höhe von 202 m ü. NN, 7,5 km nordöstlich von Butzbach, und wird von der Wetter durchflossen. Münzenberg besteht aus den Stadtteilen Gambach, Münzenberg, Ober-Hörgern und Trais.
Münzenberg grenzt im Norden an die Stadt Pohlheim, im Osten an die Städte Lich und Hungen , im Südosten an die Gemeinde Wölfersheim, im Süden an die Gemeinde Rockenberg und im Westen an die Stadt Butzbach .
