In der Tötungsanstalt Hadamar im mittelhessischen Hadamar wurden zwischen Januar 1941 und März 1945 im Rahmen der sogenannten Aktion T4 und der anschließenden „dezentralen Euthanasie“ etwa 14.500 Menschen mit Behinderungen und psychischen Erkrankungen in einer Gaskammer, durch tödliche Injektionen und Medikationen sowie durch vorsätzliches Verhungernlassen ermordet. Die Anstalt war im heutigen Altbau der Vitos Klinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie Hadamar auf dem Mönchberg untergebracht. An die Verbrechen erinnert heute die Gedenkstätte Hadamar.
