Themar ist eine Landstadt im Landkreis Hildburghausen im fränkisch geprägten Süden von Thüringen. Sie ist Sitz der Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Feldstein und seit 2019 dieser auch angehörig.
Themar liegt in Südthüringen am Oberlauf der Werra und im Vorland des Thüringer Waldes. Verkehrsmäßig ist Themar an der Bundesstraße 89 und den Landesstraßen 2628 und 2636 gelegen. Eine Bahntrasse führt auch durch die Landstadt.
