Heilbronn [haɪ̯lˈbrɔn] ist eine Großstadt im Norden Baden-Württembergs und mit 125.613 Einwohnern die sechstgrößte Stadt des Bundeslandes. Die Stadt liegt am Neckar, etwa 50 Kilometer nördlich der Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart, ist ein eigener Stadtkreis und darüber hinaus Sitz des Landkreises Heilbronn, der sie vollständig umgibt. Außerdem ist Heilbronn Oberzentrum der Region Heilbronn-Franken , die den Nordosten Baden-Württembergs umfasst, und gehört zur Randzone der europäischen Metropolregion Stuttgart. Die Gegend um Heilbronn wird in der weiteren Region meistens das Unterland genannt.
