Barth ist eine touristisch bedeutsame Kleinstadt im Landkreis Vorpommern-Rügen. Der staatlich anerkannte Erholungsort ist Sitz vom Amt Barth und bildet ein Unterzentrum.
Barth liegt am südlichen Ufer des Barther Boddens und östlich des Flusses Barthe. Im Westen des Stadtgebietes befindet sich ein größeres Waldgebiet, das Barther Stadtholz. Höchste Erhebung ist im Osten der Glöwitzer Berg mit 34,2 m ü. NHN. Auf der Halbinsel zwischen Barther Strom und Barther Bodden existiert das Feuchtgebiet Kuhwiese. Ein weiteres, teilweise unterhalb des Meeresspiegels liegendes Feuchtgebiet, befindet sich östlich der Stadt. Hier gibt es auch einige kleinere Seen. Zu Barth gehören die Ortsteile Tannenheim, Planitz, Glöwitz und Fahrenkamp.
