Hameln () ist eine große selbständige Stadt in Niedersachsen. Raumplanerisch ist die Mittelstadt als Mittelzentrum mit Teilfunktionen eines Oberzentrums eingestuft. Die Kreisstadt des Landkreises Hameln-Pyrmont liegt an der Weser und ist vor allem bekannt durch die Sage vom Rattenfänger von Hameln, die auf Ereignissen im Jahr 1284 beruhen soll.
