Plagwitz ist ein Stadtteil von Leipzig. Bis zu seiner Eingemeindung 1891 war der Ort eine selbstständige Gemeinde. Vom Karl-Heine-Kanal durchzogen, war es ab der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts stark von der Industrie geprägt. Nach einer Phase des Niedergangs und Verfalls hat sich Plagwitz seit der Wende zum 21. Jahrhundert zu einem Zentrum der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft entwickelt, erlebt eine starke Bevölkerungszunahme und Gentrifizierung. Gemäß der kommunalen Gliederung Leipzigs ist Plagwitz ein Ortsteil im Stadtbezirk Südwest.
Plagwitz liegt ungefähr drei Kilometer westlich des Leipziger Stadtzentrums und grenzt im Norden an Lindenau, im Osten an Schleußig , im Westen an Neulindenau und im Süden an Kleinzschocher.
