Abtsteinach ist eine Gemeinde im südhessischen Kreis Bergstraße. Die Gemeinde nennt sich „das Tor zum Überwald“.
Abtsteinach befindet sich hochgelegen im Vorderen Odenwald in Südhessen an der Grenze zu Baden-Württemberg. Die Gemeinde ist umgeben von einigen namhaften Bergen des Überwaldes, wie dem Götzenstein, dem Waldskopf und dem Hohberg im Westen sowie dem Hardberg und der Stiefelhöhe im Osten. In Abtsteinach entspringt die nach Süden dem Neckar zustrebende Steinach.
