Blomberg ['blɔmbɛʁk] ist eine Stadt in Ostwestfalen-Lippe, Nordrhein-Westfalen. Sie liegt im Osten des Kreises Lippe, rund 45 Kilometer südöstlich von Bielefeld und 20 Kilometer östlich von Detmold. Die Kernstadt wurde in der Kommunalreform von 1970 mit weiteren 18 bis dahin selbständigen Gemeinden zusammengeschlossen. Blomberg hat rund 15.000 Einwohner und besitzt eine gut erhaltene historische Altstadt. Die erste Besiedlung des Stadtgebiets fand zwischen dem 6. und 8. Jahrhundert n. Chr. im Zuge der altsächsischen Zuwanderung statt. Zwischen 1231 und 1255 erfolgte die Stadtgründung durch den lippischen Grafen Bernhard III.
