Die Saar ist ein etwa nordwärts fließender Fluss im französischen Elsass und in Lothringen sowie in den deutschen Bundesländern Saarland und Rheinland-Pfalz. Mit 235 Kilometern Fließstrecke ist sie der längste Zufluss der Mosel. Das Einzugsgebiet der Saar ist 7.431 Quadratkilometer groß und damit etwa dreimal so groß wie das Saarland mit 2.569,69 km² Fläche.
