Die evangelisch-lutherische Pfarrkirche St. Lukas, auch Lukaskirche genannt, war der dritte evangelisch-lutherische Kirchenbau in München. Die Kirche wurde 1893–1896 nach Plänen von Albert Schmidt errichtet. St. Lukas ist die einzige fast vollständig erhaltene evangelische Kirche des Historismus in München. Aufgrund ihrer hochaufragenden Vierungskuppel, den beiden Flankentürmen und ihrem überwältigenden Innenraum wird sie auch als „protestantischer Dom“ bezeichnet.
Der stetige Zuwachs an Gemeindegliedern ließ die beiden bestehenden evangelisch-lutherischen Pfarrkirchen St. Matthäus und St. Markus schnell zu klein werden. Schon 1893 wurden an drei weiteren Orten in Haidhausen, Schwabing und Neuhausen evangelische Gottesdienste gefeiert. Insofern war ein dritter evangelischer Kirchenbau unumgänglich.
