Das Konzil von Konstanz oder Konzil zu Konstanz war eine Versammlung der Kirchenführung in Konstanz, die auf Betreiben des römisch-deutschen Königs Sigismund von dem Gegenpapst Johannes XXIII. einberufen wurde. Gastgeber war der Fürstbischof Otto III. von Hachberg.
Die Versammlung sollte das seit 1378 andauernde Große Abendländische Schisma beenden und damit die Einheit der Kirche wiederherstellen . Ein weiterer Verhandlungspunkt, die causa reformationis , bezog sich auf notwendige Reformen innerkirchlicher Zustände. Schließlich sollten in der causa fidei Fragen der kirchlichen Verkündigung und Sakramentslehre geklärt und damit die Ketzerei wirksam bekämpft werden.
