Das Lindenau-Museum in Altenburg beherbergt als kunsthistorisches Museum die Sammlungen des sächsisch-thüringischen Staatsmannes, Gelehrten und Kunstsammlers Bernhard von Lindenau . Das prachtvolle, von Julius Robert Enger, einem Schüler Gottfried Sempers, errichtete Gebäude wurde im Jahr 1876 fertiggestellt. Es steht unter Denkmalschutz.
2001 wurde das Kunstmuseum in das Blaubuch, einer Liste national bedeutsamer Kultureinrichtungen in Ostdeutschland, aufgenommen und zählt damit zu den sogenannten kulturellen Leuchttürmen.
