Der VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach war ein Automobilhersteller im thüringischen Eisenach. Das 1896 als Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach gegründete Werk wurde 1928 von den Bayerischen Motoren Werken AG übernommen und nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg verstaatlicht. 1953 erhielt das Werk den endgültigen Namen VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach und produzierte ab 1955 den Wartburg. 1991 wurde das Unternehmen von der Treuhandanstalt geschlossen. Gleichzeitig eröffnete Opel ein Werk in Eisenach, das die Tradition der Autoindustrie in der Stadt fortführt.
Am 3. Dezember 1896 gründeten im Büro des Eisenacher Justizrats Dr. Max Wernick, Bornstraße 2, der Industrielle Heinrich Ehrhardt, sein Sohn Gustav und Vertreter eines Bankenkonsortiums die Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach als Aktiengesellschaft mit einem Stammkapital von 1.500.000 Mark.
