Der Bahnhof Hattingen ist ein Bahnhof in der Stadt Hattingen. Er umfasst auch den Haltepunkt Hattingen Mitte. Letzterer ist jedoch die wichtigere Zugangsstelle zum Schienenpersonennahverkehr, da sich hier unmittelbar die Hattinger Altstadt und der Busbahnhof befinden.
Der Bahnhof liegt an dem Streckenabschnitt Dahlhausen –Henrichshütte der am 28. Dezember 1869 eröffneten Mittleren Ruhrtalbahn, die von der Bergisch-Märkischen Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft angelegt wurde. 1874 wurde die Strecke von der Henrichshütte bis Hagen verlängert. 1884 wurde die hier abzweigende Strecke nach Wuppertal in Betrieb genommen.
