Der ehemals eigenständige Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld war neben den Flughäfen Tegel und Tempelhof einer der drei internationalen Verkehrsflughäfen im Großraum Berlin. Er war als eigenständiger Flughafen bis Ende Oktober 2020 in Betrieb. Das Abfertigungsgebäude des Flughafens wurde als Terminal 5 in den Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg integriert.
Betreiber des Flughafens war die Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH mit den Gesellschaftern Land Berlin, Land Brandenburg und Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Im Jahr 2019 wurden auf dem Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld 11.417.435 Passagiere abgefertigt. Gemessen an den Passagierzahlen lag der Flughafen 2016 an siebter Stelle in Deutschland.
