Brunkau gehört zur Ortschaft Windberge und ist ein Ortsteil der Stadt Tangerhütte und ein Dorf in der Altmark in Sachsen-Anhalt.
Brunkau liegt nördlich der Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide, westlich der Bundesstraße 189. Durch den Ort führt die Kreisstraße 1187 nach Ottersburg. Westlich des Dorfes liegen die Tangerquellen, in denen der kleine Bach Bäke entspringt, der später in den Tanger mündet. Ein großer beschrifteter Stein in der Nähe der Tangerquellen weist darauf hin. Südlich des Dorfes erstrecken sich ausgedehnte Wälder. Durch Brunkau verläuft der Altmarkrundkurs.
