Die Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg–Erfurt ist eine 190 Kilometer lange Eisenbahn-Schnellfahrstrecke des „Verkehrsprojekts Deutsche Einheit Nr. 8“. Sie besteht aus einer Ausbaustrecke zwischen Nürnberg und Ebensfeld sowie einer Neubaustrecke zwischen Ebensfeld und Erfurt. Die Reisezeit zwischen den beiden Großstädten verkürzt sich auf etwa 80 Minuten.
Die Planungen begannen 1991, Baubeginn war im April 1996. 1999 folgte aufgrund der hohen Kosten des auf sieben bis acht Milliarden D-Mark geschätzten Projekts ein Baustopp durch die damalige Rot-Grüne Bundesregierung. 2002 wurde der Baustopp aufgehoben. Die Inbetriebnahme der Neubaustrecke Ebensfeld–Erfurt erfolgte zum Fahrplanwechsel am 10. Dezember 2017. Die Ausbaustrecke Nürnberg–Ebensfeld folgt abschnittsweise. Mit der Gesamtfertigstellung wird nicht vor 2028Vorlage:Zukunft/In 5 Jahren gerechnet.
