Die Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München ist eine Universität in München. Sie wurde 1472 in Ingolstadt gegründet und ist nach ihrem Gründer Herzog Ludwig IX. sowie dem bayerischen König Maximilian I. Joseph benannt.
Im Wintersemester 2017/18 waren über 50.000 Studenten eingeschrieben, wodurch sie zahlenmäßig die zweitgrößte Universität und die größte Präsenzuniversität Deutschlands ist. Rund 700 Professoren lehren an 18 Fakultäten. Mit 150 Studiengängen bietet die Universität München ein breites Fächerspektrum, darunter einige sonst im deutschsprachigen Raum nicht angebotene Fächer.
