Der Zoo Kopenhagen wurde 1859 gegründet und ist damit der älteste Zoo Dänemarks und einer der ältesten Tiergärten in Europa. Er befindet sich in der von Kopenhagen umschlossenen Gemeinde Frederiksberg und beheimatete 2010 mehr als 3500 Tiere in 240 Arten. In dem Jahr waren dort 162 Mitarbeiter in Vollzeit beschäftigt und es wurden über 1,055 Mio. Besucher gezählt.
