Für eine gehörige Portion Symbolik muss man nach Montserrat gehen. Dort findet man, zwischen den Felsen des Montserrat-Berges, ein uraltes Kloster, in dem heute noch rund siebzig Benediktinermönche wohnen. In dem Gebäude kann man La Moreneta bewundern. Die Marienskulptur stellt die schwarze Madonna dar, die Schutzpatronin Kataloniens, und ist die Hauptfigur einer katalanischen Legende. Das ursprüngliche Bild soll nämlich in einer Höhle entdeckt worden sein, war aber zu schwer, um es zu transportieren. Der lokale Bischof beschloss daher, ein Kloster um das Bild herum zu bauen.
In Montserrat kann man auch sein musikalisches Herz erfreuen. Jeden Tag, außer samstags, gibt die Escolania, einer der ältesten Knabenchöre Europas - mit strengen Auswahlverfahren -, ihr Bestes. Süße Gesangsstimmen überall.
