Ibiza ist mit einer Fläche von 572 km² die drittgrößte Insel der spanischen autonomen Region Balearen im westlichen Mittelmeer.
Mit der südlich gelegenen Insel Formentera und zahlreichen kleineren und unbewohnten Felseninseln bildet Ibiza die Inselgruppe der Pityusen. Amtssprachen sind Spanisch und Katalanisch, der auf der Insel vorherrschende katalanische Dialekt wird Ibizenk genannt. Die Insel hat 147.914 Einwohner , der Ausländeranteil beträgt etwa 20 Prozent, der Anteil deutscher Einwohner liegt bei rund 3 Prozent. Seit 2001 ist die Zahl der dauerhaft auf Ibiza lebenden Menschen um mehr als 60 Prozent gestiegen. Die größten Gemeinden sind der Hauptort Ibiza mit rund 50.000 Einwohnern, Santa Eulària des Riu , Sant Josep de sa Talaia und Sant Antoni de Portmany .
