Orléans [ɔʁleˈɑ̃] ist eine Großstadt und eine Gemeinde in der Region Centre-Val de Loire, Frankreich. Die Stadt an der Loire ist Universitäts- und Bischofssitz mit einer eindrucksvollen Kathedrale und hat 116.269 Einwohner . Orléans ist Sitz der Präfektur des Départements Loiret.Die Altstadt von Orléans liegt auf dem Nordufer der Loire in einer Höhe von ca. 112 m; erst später kamen die Gemeinden auf dem Südufer hinzu. Die Stadt liegt knapp 130 km südwestlich von Paris. Das Klima ist gemäßigt; Regen fällt übers Jahr verteilt.
