Die Camargue ist das größte Flussdelta Westeuropas. Es handelt sich um eine weitläufige Ebene, die große Bracklagunen oder Étangs umfasst, die durch Sandbänke vom Meer abgeschnitten und von mit Schilf bewachsenen Sümpfen umgeben sind. Diese sind wiederum von einem großen kultivierten Gebiet umgeben. Etwa ein Drittel der Camargue besteht entweder aus Seen oder Feuchtgebieten.
