Chinon ist eine französische Stadt mit 8104 Einwohnern im Département Indre-et-Loire in der Région Centre-Val de Loire und Unterpräfektur des Arrondissements Chinon. Der Ort erstreckt sich über beide Ufer der Vienne, unweit der Mündung in die Loire.Die Stadt ist bekannt für die imposante Ruine der Burg Chinon und das Kernkraftwerk Chinon mit vier aktiven Druckwasserreaktoren und drei stillgelegten Magnoxreaktoren.
