Poitiers [pwa'tje] ist die Hauptstadt des Départements Vienne in der Region Nouvelle-Aquitaine im Westen Frankreichs. Bis 2016 war sie auch Hauptstadt der dann aufgelösten Region Poitou-Charentes. Sie liegt am Fluss Clain und zählt 89.212 Einwohner .Aufgrund ihrer 78 unter Denkmalschutz stehenden Kulturdenkmäler wurde sie mit dem Prädikat Stadt der Kunst und Geschichte ausgezeichnet.
