Die Société nationale des chemins de fer français ist die staatliche Eisenbahngesellschaft Frankreichs mit Sitz in Saint-Denis bei Paris. Sie betreibt beinahe den kompletten Schienenverkehr in Frankreich und in Monaco, den Hochgeschwindigkeitszug TGV, Teile des Pariser Vorortverkehrs RER sowie die Linie 4 der Pariser Straßenbahn. Ihr Teilunternehmen SNCF Réseau ist Eigentümer des Streckennetzes. Die SNCF ist Mitglied der Railteam-Allianz.
Die SNCF zählt rund 160.000 Beschäftigte. Täglich verkehren über 14.000 Züge im Netz der SNCF. Diese transportierten 2005 rund 974 Millionen Passagiere, davon 632 Millionen im Nahverkehr von Paris.
