Mifaget ist das letzte Dorf, das die Pilger auf ihrem Weg durch das Piemont der Pyrenäen, einer der Routen des Jakobswegs, durchqueren. Die Kirche Saint Michel, die den Dorfplatz überragt, ist von Bauernhöfen umgeben, die sich um die Kommandantur herum angesiedelt haben, in der man früher einen Zwischenstopp einlegen konnte, bevor man seine Reise ins Ossautal fortsetzte.
Ihre Originalität liegt in ihrer in der Region einzigartigen Krypta, die in Form einer unter der Apsis ausgehöhlten Kalottenkuppel errichtet wurde. Die Kirche wurde 1114 von Gaston IV, dem Vicomte von Béarn, erbaut und ist dem Heiligen Michael und dem Heiligen Ploradou, dem Heiligen der launischen Kinder, geweiht. So versprachen die Eltern ihren quengelnden Kindern, sie die ganze Nacht in der absoluten Dunkelheit der Krypta zu lassen.
