Mit seinen 60 ha, von denen 30 bewaldet sind, beherbergt der Bois de Thouars eine vielfältige Flora und Fauna. Ein botanischer Pfad ermöglicht es, diese Lebensräume auf einer markierten Strecke von 4 km zu entdecken. Der Wald ist heute als Espace Boisé Classé und als Naturgebiet von nationalem Interesse eingetragen. Er befindet sich in der natürlichen Domäne des atlantischen Eichenwaldes der Ebenen und Hügel, der Stieleichenwald dominiert hier. Mehrere Arten sind selten oder geschützt: die Tauzin-Eiche, die Vogelnest-Neottie und die Sumpfdotterblume bei den Pflanzen sowie der Seemann, die Rohrdommel und der Pflaumenpiekser bei den Tieren. Der Bois de Thouars ist außerdem ein Rückzugsgebiet für die gängige Wildtierfauna.
