Met zijn 60 hectare, waarvan 30 bebost, herbergt Thouars Wood een verscheidenheid aan flora en fauna. Via een botanisch pad kunt u deze milieus ontdekken via een uitgezette route van 4 km. Het bos is nu een geclassificeerd bosgebied en een natuurgebied van nationaal belang. Het ligt in het natuurlijke domein van het Atlantische eikenbos van de vlakte en de heuvels, waarbij het zomereikbos domineert. Verschillende soorten zijn zeldzaam of beschermd: de Tauzin Oak, de Bird's Nest Neottie en de Marsh Hottonia voor planten en de Fisherman's Sailor, de Pipistrelle en de Plum Prickly Pear voor dieren. Thouars Wood is ook een toevluchtsoord voor wilde dieren.
